The website Bring a Trailer or BaT (www.bringatrailer.com) has featured a bunch of very nice 8-Series BMW’s lately with one being the Dinan 6.0L Stroker car that sold for $50k.  Today you will find a super low mileage ’91 Stage II Twin Turbo for sale. It is thought to be an early production car but only has 30k miles on the clock. These do not come up for sale very often, so do not miss your chance to own one of the very best Dinan 8 twin turbo cars out there.

Auction Description:

This 1991 BMW 850i was sold new in Oregon and taken shortly afterward to Dinan Engineering in Mountain View, California, where its 5.0L V12 was fitted with twin turbochargers. Additional components installed by Dinan included a Stage III suspension setup with camber plates, a limited-slip differential, and free-flow exhaust system as well as a high-stall torque converter for its factory automatic transmission. The current owner purchased the car in 2007, and has since added approximately 2,000 of its 30,500 indicated miles. This E31 is reportedly one of 42 converted to the twin-turbo system by Dinan and is offered on behalf of its current owner with Dinan paperwork, partial service records, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The seller has provided several close-up pictures of the Calypso Red Metallic finish in the gallery below. A $4k invoice shows work from Kraft’s Body Shop after the vehicle was hit by another car in May 2012. An inspection from Nate Smith’s Optimal Auto Care in Santa Cruz, California notes that the damage affected the right front fender, hood, and headlamp cover. The Carfax lists a corresponding damage report. The black front chin spoiler is cracked and the front roundel badge is worn.

The cabin is trimmed in beige leather upholstery accented with color-matched carpets and two-tone plastics on the door panels and dashboard. Amenities include dual power seats with driver-side memory, a CD/cassette stereo, power windows/mirrors/locks, automatic climate control, and more.

The digital odometer shows just under 30,500 miles. The seller notes wear on the driver’s seat and pixel issues on the stereo display.

The 5.0-liter V12 was fitted with the twin-turbo system by Dinan in August 1991 according to included records. Power is sent through a factory automatic transmission featuring a high-stall torque converter which was installed at the time of the other work along with a limited-slip differential and free-flow exhaust system. Several pages of documentation from Dinan are provided in the gallery, including the page above and a list of additional components installed. The car is reportedly one of 42 E31s converted to the twin-turbo system according to a recent conversation between the seller and Steve Dinan.

he Carfax shows this BMW being sold new in Oregon, then moving to New York in 2006 and California in 2007, where it has stayed with the current owner since. An additional video featuring this BMW is provided below:
